Review: Maybelline Superstar 24hr Full Coverage Foundation

Today I am reviewing the new Maybelline 24hr Full Coverage Foundation.  I hope you all enjoy xx

Price

$34.99, I bought mine from  Farmers NZ

(You get 30mL in the bottle)

Packaging

The foundation comes in a glass bottle (which is very heavy and good quality) the lid and pump (yep it comes with a pump!) are a plastic which in my opinion does feel a little bit tacky but then again it isn’t an issue for me. I like the pump on this foundation too, it pumps out the perfect amount of product.

Application

I use the Real Techniques sponge and the Elf flat top brush to apply this foundation. I find that with this foundation the Beauty Blender doesn’t work as well as the Real Techniques sponge. It is super easy to apply and doesn’t dry down as fast as other foundations. I would say this foundation is a semi matte finish (I have combo skin and it works really well on it) but I still set it on my T-Zone areas. It definitely is full coverage (more full coverage than my Fenty Beauty Foundation!!) but it doesn’t look cakey at all. The overage is the same on all areas of the face and isn’t patchy. I wouldn’t say that it will last you 24 hours (it depends on your type of skin). On me it lasts definitely 12 hours (the longest I have tested it out for) I do end up a bit shiny on my T-Zone areas so I touch it up with some blotting powder. It seems to be fine when touching up and it doesn’t seem to pull off from doing so.  It went on smoothly around my nose and didn’t separate like other foundations do (especially in the creases of my nose) and it filled in my pores. I also didn’t use a primer as I don’t really believe in them (personal preference, unless it’s a pore filling primer)

This foundation is oil free and doesn’t clog pores. The shade range here in NZ isn’t that great. I did find it a little difficult myself (I am pretty sure my shade was the lightest they had) and from memory there weren’t a lot of deeper shades for darker skin tones. If your shade isn’t available I would recommend trying to purchase the foundation of the official Maybelline website.
